The Department of Biotechnology at JIIT, Noida (est. 2002) offers a research-driven M.Tech Biotechnology program designed to meet evolving academic and industry needs. The program integrates theoretical depth with practical knowledge and hands-on research experience under the guidance of experienced faculty. The curriculum integrates core courses in genetics, molecular biology, and genetic engineering with advanced electives such as bioprocess engineering, immunotechnology, nanotechnology, biosensors, vaccine biotechnology, structural biology, drug delivery, and genomics & society. Students gain practical exposure through two minor projects and a year-long major dissertation, ensuring a balance between theory and application. Research areas in the department span genomics, proteomics, drug target discovery, microbial diversity, bioremediation, medicinal plant biotechnology, industrial biotechnology, nanobiotechnology, and regulatory sciences. The program prepares students for careers in life sciences research, biotechnology industry, and regulatory sectors, equipping them with expertise in biosafety, ethics, research methodology, and product development.
