Biography

Dr. Vikas Malik is a professor in the Department of Physics and Materials Science and Engineering. He has done his M.Sc. from the Department of Physics, IIT Kanpur, and PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University. After his PhD, he was a guest scientist at the University of Chemnitz, Germany, and a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, and Harish Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad. He joined JIIT in 2013 as an Assistant Professor (senior grade). He has guided four PhD Students, and one student is pursuing a PhD under his supervision. He has published 32 papers in international and national journals of repute. He has published three book chapters. He has given talks, and presented papers at 30 national and international conferences in India. He has been a convener of three workshops and one faculty development program. He is a member of the Indian Association of Physics Teachers, Indian Laser Association, and Material Research Society of India.

Research Highlights
  1. A hybrid code using Monte Carlo simulation and cluster flipping for finding the ground state of long-range Coulomb glass model.
  2. Coarsening dynamics study of Coulomb glass and other long-ranged models at zero and small disorders.
  3. Slow and non-equilibrium steady state experiments explained using simulations and theory
  4. Effect of defects and Coulomb interaction in thermoelectric materials explained using the Boltzmann transport equation and percolation theory.
  5. Effect of curviness, length dispersity of nanowires on conductivity and transmittance of Transparent conductive networks.
