Biography

Dr Mukta Mani is a seasoned academician and researcher with over 22 years of experience in teaching and research in management education, specialising in Finance. She has been serving as a Professor at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), Noida, since October 2005. Her academic journey includes a Bachelor of Science, an MBA in Finance, a PhD in Management and an Executive program in Quantitative Finance and Risk Mitigation from IIM Sirmaur.

She has made significant contributions to Finance research, authoring over 50 papers published in reputed national and international journals indexed in reputed databases such as Scopus, Web of Science and ABDC. Besides, she has presented her research work in reputed national and International conferences and published as book chapters. Her academic rigour is demonstrated through a major research project on Financial Inclusion, funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). Her academic mentoring includes supervision of several PhD and Master's theses covering diverse topics such as digital payments, mutual fund performance, banking human capital, Goods and Services Tax and crypto-financial interlinkages. Her editorial roles in the International Journal of E-Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the International Journal of Corporate Finance and Accounting reflect her standing in the research community.

Dr Mukta is a certified professional with additional qualifications, including NISM certification, a diploma in Business Finance (ICFAI), and completion of various Coursera courses in fintech and blockchain. She is a qualified UGC-NET and JRF awardee and has also cleared the UP-SLET examination.

Over the years, she has taught core and advanced finance courses such as Financial Accounting, Financial Management, International Finance, Managerial Economics, and Money, Banking and Finance to undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has also taken on significant administrative roles at JIIT, including Department Coordinator, Convenor of the Stakeholder Relationship Committee, Member of the Proctorial Board, MOOC Course Coordinator, Member of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), and NBA Accreditation Coordinator. Her contributions in these roles reflect her deep commitment to academic governance, quality assurance, and curriculum enhancement. Beyond academia, she actively engages in capacity-building initiatives, delivering invited lectures and workshops in Finance for Non-Finance Executives and Managing Personal Finance. Dr Mukta’s work bridges the academic and practical aspects of finance, establishing her as a dedicated contributor to India’s financial education and research landscape.

Research Highlights

Dr. Mukta Mani has made impactful contributions to the domains of finance, banking, and financial markets through over two decades of sustained research. Her work reflects a balance of academic rigor and practical relevance, focusing on financial inclusion, investment behavior, mutual funds, and corporate finance.

A key achievement is her ICSSR-funded major research project on Financial Inclusion, which examined access to banking and financial services among underprivileged communities. This study analyzed the effectiveness of government policies, challenges in last-mile connectivity, and the role of technology-enabled solutions such as mobile banking and digital payment platforms in fostering inclusion.

She has published over 40 research papers in national and international journals. These include studies on risk–return trade-offs in mutual funds, comparative analysis of public vs. private sector banks, investor perception of financial instruments, and the role of financial literacy in market participation. Her empirical studies often combine survey-based primary data with statistical and econometric techniques, offering evidence-based insights for policymakers and industry.

Dr. Mani has supervised many PhD scholars, guiding their research on topics such as capital market efficiency, financial decision-making, and performance evaluation of investment vehicles.
