Biography

Dr. Shweta Verma is a dedicated academician and psychologist with over 12 years of experience in higher education. She possesses substantial experience in curriculum development, having contributed to academic programs at various levels, and holds a strong background in applied psychology through her engagement in clinical, educational, and organizational roles. She holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from H.P. University, Shimla, specializing in Organizational Behaviour, where she was also a university-level scholarship holder in recognition of her academic excellence. Her academic journey includes faculty positions at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Sharda University, and Lovely Professional University, besides her work with NIOS in curriculum development.

Her professional experience encompasses counselling and psychological services with the Red Cross Society (Dharamshala), State Social Welfare Board: Family Counselling Center (Shimla), and Family Dispute Resolution Clinic (Greater Noida), along with psychological assessment consultancy at SHL Group. Dr. Verma has also significantly contributed to national education initiatives, serving on the curriculum committee for the Senior Secondary Psychology course at NIOS and developing content for MOOC platforms like SWAYAM.

Her teaching approach integrates theory with real-world relevance, focusing on student development through experiential methods. She is a member of the National Academy of Psychology (NAOP), India, and has been actively involved in various Faculty Development Programs. She is also a published author in national and international journals and has contributed to NIOS textbooks on psychology.

Research Highlights

Dr. Verma’s research primarily explores psychological well-being, behavioural interventions, and educational psychology. Her current working paper focuses on "Work-Life Balance and Career Trajectories among Women in India," examining the systemic and personal factors influencing women’s professional progress. Her earlier work includes empirical studies on stress, burnout, and job satisfaction in high-stress professions like law, she has also analyzed mental health impacts during the COVID-19 lockdown on urban Indian women.

She has substantially contributed to curriculum and pedagogical development, emphasizing skill-building and self-help strategies. Her work extends to educational psychology, especially studying the role of parental involvement in student achievement.

Dr. Verma values interdisciplinary methods, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative techniques, including psychological assessments and psychometrics. She is committed to research that not only informs theory but also translates into actionable practices for counsellors, educators, and organizations. Her chapters in NIOS textbooks reflect her applied approach, combining psychological theories with relatable case studies and activities for learners.

She is now looking to expand her work through collaborative research in gender studies, youth mental health, and technology-enabled psychological interventions. She also mentors students in research methodology, encouraging critical thinking, ethical research conduct, and innovative approaches in psychological studies.
