Biography

Dr. Piyush Sharma is an Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Design at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida. He holds an M.Tech from MNIT Jaipur and a Ph.D. from IIT Kanpur, with postdoctoral research at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. His expertise spans solar thermal systems, heat transfer, thermal energy storage, hydrogen and coal combustion modeling. He has taught at NITs and SRM IST, and published extensively in reputed international journals. Passionate about renewable energy and sustainability, Dr. Sharma continues advancing research in solar energy technologies and clean energy solutions for a sustainable future.

Dr. Piyush Sharma’s research focuses on solar thermal energy systems, heat transfer, and clean energy technologies. He has developed experimental and numerical models for volumetric air receivers, porous media, and thermal energy storage systems, alongside advanced studies on hydrogen and coal combustion, including biofuel co-combustion. His expertise in CFD-based heat transfer and fluid flow modeling has led to impactful publications in leading journals such as Solar Energy, Energy Storage, and Journal of Power and Energy.
