Biography

Dr. Ashish Gupta is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), Noida, where he has been contributing since 2017. He holds a Ph.D. in RF and Microwave Engineering from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, an M.Tech in Microelectronics and VLSI Design from SGSITS Indore, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from RJIT, BSF Academy, Tekanpur.

With over 14 years of academic and research experience across reputed institutes in India, Dr. Gupta specializes in Engineering Electromagnetics, RF and Microwave Engineering, metamaterials, microstrip antennas, polarization converters, absorbers, and filters. He has established and managed advanced laboratories, including the Electromagnetic and Research & Project Laboratories at JIIT, and has been an active member of NBA and NAAC accreditation committees, curriculum design boards, and institutional quality assurance cells.

His research contributions include numerous publications in high-impact SCI/Scopus journals and IEEE conferences, along with the successful supervision of doctoral and undergraduate students. He has collaborated extensively with peers on funded research projects and has engaged with industry through workshops, invited talks, and joint initiatives on advanced antenna and microwave technologies.

Dr. Gupta’s work has been recognized through several awards, including the National Instruments Student Travel Fellowship (NCC 2015, IIT Bombay), ISMAA International Travel Grant, and multiple best paper awards. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, a member of IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society and Microwave Theory and Techniques Society, and currently serves as Faculty Advisor of the IEEE AP-S Chapter at JIIT.

Research Highlights

Dr. Ashish Gupta’s research is primarily focused on RF and Microwave Engineering, Engineering Electromagnetics, and Metamaterial-inspired devices. His core contributions span the design and development of metamaterial antennas, polarization converters, microwave absorbers, and filters, with emphasis on compact, high-performance solutions for next-generation wireless communication systems.

He has introduced several notable innovations, including miniaturized antennas with enhanced bandwidth and gain, ultra-thin quad-band metamaterial absorbers, and multifunctional polarization converters with applications in 5G, WLAN, WiMAX, and satellite communications. His work on reflective and transmissive polarizers has advanced techniques for linear-to-circular and cross-polarization conversion in the microwave and mmWave regimes.

The applications of his research extend to modern wireless networks, defense systems, stealth technologies, biomedical sensing, and satellite communications. His findings have been published widely in high impact factor SCI-indexed journals and IEEE conferences, contributing to both theoretical advancement and applied engineering.

Dr. Gupta has actively collaborated with national institutions such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, and international researchers, leading to joint publications and research outcomes of global relevance. He has successfully supervised 2 Ph.D. candidates and several undergrad students, further strengthening academic research in this domain.

He has also led funded projects, including the design of metasurface-based broadband polarization converters sponsored by the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Development (JIIT). These projects demonstrate the translation of advanced electromagnetic concepts into practical systems.

Through his innovations, publications, and collaborative engagements, Dr. Gupta has significantly impacted both industry and academia, providing pathways for more efficient, miniaturized, and multifunctional RF systems.
